CHRONOPOST PACKAGE TRACKING

Chronopost Tracking

Track one supported Chronopost parcel or officially accepted operational reference at a time. A label does not prove Chronopost has the parcel, Out for Delivery is not live GPS or a delivery guarantee, Ready for Pickup is not collection, and Chrono Pass, Secure Chrono Pass and Pickup Pass are different credentials rather than tracking numbers.

Spaces and dashes are accepted.

Independent tracking lookup. 11Tracking is not Chronopost, CHRONOPOST S.A.S., Geopost, La Poste, Colissimo, DPD, DPD France, Pickup, Shop2Shop, Chronofresh, Chronopost Healthcare, a customs authority, or a locker operator and cannot change Predict options, resend Chrono Pass credentials, open a locker, clear customs, retrieve POD, or file a claim. Enter one supported Chronopost parcel number or officially supported operational reference at a time. Merchant order numbers, collection references unless supported as tracking, delivery-notice references, Chrono Pass, Secure Chrono Pass, Pickup Pass, six-digit codes, QR codes, locker credentials, names, phones, emails, addresses, signatures, POD files, PhotoConfirm, customs contents, payment data, and claim evidence are not available on this form. Label creation does not prove Chronopost possession. Delivery-agency sorting and preparing for delivery are not Out for Delivery. Ready for Pickup is not collection.

Enter one supported Chronopost parcel number or another operational reference that the current tracking provider explicitly accepts.

Chronopost is a French express-parcel company within Geopost and La Poste Groupe. It can carry a parcel through its own French network, use selected transport operators on domestic or international stages, send a parcel to a Pickup relay or locker, and rely on a destination partner outside France.

A recognised number proves that a tracking system can associate the input with a shipment or operational record. It does not, by itself, prove that the sender handed over the parcel or that Chronopost physically accepted it. Label creation, collection booking, carrier acceptance, transit, delivery preparation, route activity, pickup readiness and completion are separate evidence stages.

11Tracking can display supported public tracking events. It cannot access the sender’s contract or marketplace account, contact Chronopost, a Pickup location, customs, a transport partner or a driver, change a Predict instruction, alter an address, resend a Chrono Pass, open a locker, pay duties, obtain private proof, start an investigation, file a claim, approve compensation, issue a refund, recover a parcel or guarantee delivery.

Track a Chronopost parcel on this page

Use the complete number shown in one of these places:

  • the sender’s shipping confirmation;
  • the parcel details in the retailer or marketplace account;
  • the transport label;
  • a Chronopost email or SMS that you independently verify;
  • the official Chronopost Parcel Tracking page;
  • a delivery notice;
  • an international partner record explicitly linked to the Chronopost shipment.

Enter one supported reference at a time.

Do not enter:

  • a merchant order number;
  • a payment reference;
  • a customs invoice number;
  • a Chrono Pass;
  • a Secure Chrono Pass;
  • a Pickup Pass;
  • a six-digit home-delivery code;
  • a six-digit locker or withdrawal code;
  • a QR code;
  • a phone number;
  • an email address;
  • a street address;
  • a claim or complaint reference;
  • a proof-of-delivery file.

A Chronopost number can reveal the delivery city, pickup location, customs events, delivery instructions and completion evidence. Treat it as private shipment data. Do not publish the full number in reviews, forums, screenshots, URLs, metadata, analytics labels or unnecessary AI prompts.

What Chronopost is

Chronopost’s current legal identity is CHRONOPOST S.A.S.

It is registered in France as both:

  • a road-transport company;
  • a freight forwarder.

Chronopost is a Geopost company within La Poste Groupe.

This structure matters because Chronopost can be the contracted parcel service while another transport operator performs one stage of the journey.

Chronopost contract or label
≠ Chronopost employee handled every physical stage

partner event
≠ Chronopost ceased being the contracted service

Depending on the parcel, the route can include:

  • sender drop-off or collection;
  • Chronopost agency;
  • post office acceptance;
  • origin hub;
  • road or air line-haul;
  • customs;
  • destination depot;
  • Pickup relay or locker;
  • destination partner carrier;
  • recipient delivery.

Chronopost versus Colissimo

Chronopost and Colissimo are separate parcel brands within La Poste Groupe.

They have different:

  • services;
  • tracking-number families;
  • delivery commitments;
  • support routes;
  • claim terms.

Use Colissimo Tracking when the parcel record identifies Colissimo.

Do not choose Chronopost merely because:

  • the parcel is in France;
  • La Poste Groupe appears in the corporate background;
  • the parcel uses a post office;
  • the parcel is sent to a Pickup point.

Chronopost versus DPD France

Chronopost and DPD France are separate Geopost and La Poste Groupe parcel operations.

A route can use Geopost infrastructure or another group company without making the brands interchangeable.

Geopost network relationship
≠ same carrier identity

DPD event or number
≠ Chronopost event or number

Use the actual carrier name and linked number returned for the parcel.

Chronopost versus Pickup

Pickup is a shared out-of-home network of parcel shops and lockers.

Pickup locations can be used by:

  • Chronopost;
  • Colissimo;
  • DPD France.

Pickup is not the line-haul carrier.

parcel at Pickup location
→ out-of-home delivery object identified
≠ Pickup transported every stage
≠ every Pickup parcel is Chronopost

The current parcel record should identify the carrier that brought the parcel to the Pickup location.

Chronopost tracking-number formats

Chronopost publishes more than one number family.

Domestic Chronopost parcel number

Current official guidance describes an ordinary domestic parcel number as:

  • 13 characters;
  • 2 letters;
  • 9 digits;
  • 2 letters.

Masked form:

AA#########BB

Chronopost tells users to enter it without spaces.

Incoming foreign parcel number

Current official guidance says a parcel arriving from abroad can use a 15-character number.

Chronopost does not publish one complete universal pattern for every foreign-origin identifier.

Why one strict regex is unsafe

The current Chronopost homepage displays an example that does not visibly match the published 13-character domestic structure.

That may reflect:

  • simplified placeholder text;
  • another operational reference;
  • legacy content;
  • a page inconsistency.

Therefore:

official 13-character guidance
≠ safe rule that every accepted Chronopost input has exactly 13 characters

Use the full reference supplied for the parcel and the current carrier response.

Parcel number, collection reference and delivery-notice reference

Chronopost’s public surfaces can refer to several operational identifiers.

Parcel number

This identifies the physical parcel in the transport network.

It is the preferred public tracking input.

Collection-request reference

Current sender guidance describes an on-demand collection reference as a 10-digit number.

It identifies a pickup request.

collection request exists
→ driver collection was requested
≠ parcel collected
≠ parcel number

Delivery-notice reference

A delivery notice can have an 11-character reference.

It identifies the attempted-delivery notice or follow-up workflow.

It is not necessarily the parcel number.

Merchant order number

A retailer or marketplace order number belongs to the commercial purchase.

It is not a Chronopost parcel reference.

Which number should you use?

Use this order:

  1. the Chronopost parcel number supplied by the sender;
  2. the linked international or destination-partner number where Chronopost provides one;
  3. an official collection or delivery-notice reference only when the current Chronopost or 11Tracking form explicitly supports that type.

Do not use:

  • Chrono Pass;
  • Secure Chrono Pass;
  • Pickup Pass;
  • delivery code;
  • withdrawal code;
  • order number;
  • customs-payment reference;
  • complaint number.

One ecommerce order can contain several Chronopost parcels

Current Chronopost terms require each physical parcel to have:

  • its own transport label;
  • a different parcel reference.

A single retailer order can therefore produce several Chronopost numbers.

one order
→ can contain several physical parcels

one parcel Delivered
≠ every parcel in the order Delivered

Track each parcel separately.

When part of the order arrives:

  • compare every parcel number;
  • check whether the merchant split the shipment;
  • do not treat one completion event as the status of the entire order.

Label created versus Chronopost accepted

A sender can create and print a transport label before giving the parcel to Chronopost.

label created
→ electronic shipment record and barcode exist
≠ sender handed over parcel
≠ Chronopost accepted parcel

A collection request is also not proof of pickup.

Stronger Chronopost custody evidence includes:

  • accepted at a post office;
  • accepted at a Chronopost agency;
  • accepted through an authorised drop-off flow;
  • collection completed;
  • first Chronopost network event.

Seller says shipped, but Chronopost shows only preparation

Contact the sender first.

Possible explanations include:

  • label created early;
  • collection not completed;
  • parcel not deposited;
  • label cancelled;
  • wrong number.

Use Label Created for the general evidence boundary.

Does Chronopost physically have the parcel?

Use this evidence ladder.

How Chronopost tracking works

Chronopost tracking is milestone-based.

It can show:

  • electronic preparation;
  • carrier acceptance;
  • site processing;
  • transport;
  • customs;
  • delivery instructions;
  • delivery preparation;
  • attempted delivery;
  • pickup availability;
  • delivery;
  • return.

It is not continuous live GPS.

Chronopost does not provide through ordinary public tracking:

  • live driver position;
  • exact truck location;
  • live aircraft telemetry;
  • continuous warehouse position;
  • guaranteed time of the next scan.

Chronopost status wording is not one universal codebook

Chronopost does not publish one complete current 2026 public raw-event dictionary for every product and partner.

Current official FAQs explain several common states. An older official Chronotrace guide also describes useful operational status families.

That older guide is valuable for interpretation, but it should not be treated as:

  • a complete current API specification;
  • proof that every phrase still appears unchanged;
  • proof that every service follows the same sequence.

The public timeline should preserve the raw message where safe and use cautious normalized meanings.

Shipment preparation

A preparation status usually means Chronopost has shipment data, a label or a sender-created record.

Strongest supported conclusion:

The transport record exists.

It does not prove:

  • sender handoff;
  • carrier acceptance;
  • physical movement.

Shipment cancelled

A sender can cancel an electronic transport label before handoff.

Chronopost label cancelled
≠ retailer order refunded

If a parcel was physically handed over after the label was cancelled, it can enter an exception or return workflow.

Contact the sender to confirm:

  • whether a replacement label exists;
  • whether the order was cancelled;
  • whether a refund was issued.

In Transit

In Transit means Chronopost or a selected transport operator recorded network movement or processing.

It can include:

  • origin hub;
  • road line-haul;
  • air line-haul;
  • transfer between Chronopost sites;
  • international partner movement.
In Transit
→ network movement or processing recorded
≠ continuous movement
≠ destination city
≠ delivery today

Repeated transit events can be normal.

Use In Transit for the general status model.

Parcel incident

An incident status records abnormal handling.

Official operational examples include:

  • damage;
  • prohibited goods;
  • dangerous goods;
  • another processing problem.
incident recorded
→ normal movement was interrupted
≠ parcel automatically lost
≠ parcel automatically destroyed
≠ claim approved

Read the raw message.

The next action can belong to:

  • sender;
  • Chronopost;
  • customs;
  • destination partner.

Sorted at the delivery agency

A delivery-agency sorting event means the parcel reached destination-distribution processing.

sorted at delivery agency
→ destination depot work recorded
≠ driver route started
≠ Out for Delivery

The next event may be:

  • preparing for delivery;
  • delayed;
  • instruction received;
  • Out for Delivery.

Delivery instruction received

Chronopost can record a Predict or operational delivery instruction.

The instruction can concern:

  • another delivery date;
  • Pickup relay;
  • Chronopost agency;
  • identified neighbour;
  • agreed safe place;
  • another eligible option.
instruction received
→ request entered
≠ instruction fully executed
≠ parcel already at the new location

A later route or pickup-ready event is stronger evidence.

Preparing for delivery

This status means the parcel is being prepared for a delivery presentation or another presentation.

preparing for delivery
→ operational preparation exists
≠ driver departed
≠ Out for Delivery
≠ delivery guaranteed

It can appear after:

  • depot sorting;
  • new Predict instruction;
  • earlier unsuccessful presentation;
  • rescheduling.

Delivery delayed

A delay status means the delivery plan changed.

It does not, by itself, prove the parcel is lost.

Possible reasons include:

  • line-haul delay;
  • depot workload;
  • route capacity;
  • weather;
  • customs;
  • address question;
  • partner-carrier delay.

Current mainland-France investigation guidance

Chronopost currently says that for a parcel travelling from and to mainland France, a recipient can contact customer service when tracking has not changed for more than 48 hours.

That calculation excludes:

  • weekends;
  • public holidays.

This is an operational contact threshold.

It is not:

  • a universal international rule;
  • a declaration of loss;
  • a Shop2Shop guarantee.

Out for Delivery

An Out for Delivery event means the parcel was assigned to delivery-route activity.

Out for Delivery
→ route activity recorded
≠ live GPS
≠ exact arrival time
≠ guaranteed completion that day

Possible later branches include:

  • Delivered;
  • attempted delivery;
  • delay;
  • awaiting instruction;
  • pickup redirection;
  • return.

For the general status boundary, see Out for Delivery.

Awaiting instruction

An Awaiting Instruction event means Chronopost needs or is requesting a delivery decision or information.

The required action may concern:

  • address;
  • delivery date;
  • pickup option;
  • another route instruction.
awaiting instruction
→ action or information is required
≠ recipient fault proved
≠ parcel available for pickup

Use the official Chronopost tracking page, Predict, myChronopost or current support route.

Do not provide address or delivery credentials through an unverified message link.

Attempted delivery

An attempted-delivery event means a presentation did not complete.

Possible next steps include:

  • another delivery date;
  • Predict instruction;
  • Pickup relay;
  • locker;
  • post office;
  • Chronopost agency;
  • return.

There is no one universal Chronopost attempt count.

The next step depends on:

  • product;
  • sender configuration;
  • country;
  • partner carrier;
  • special handling.

Avis de passage

An avis de passage is a delivery notice connected to an unsuccessful presentation or follow-up route.

It can have its own reference.

No paper notice at the address does not, by itself, prove that no digital attempt event exists.

Use:

  • the online Chronopost record;
  • current Predict options;
  • current pickup information.

What is Predict?

Predict is Chronopost’s notification and delivery-instruction service.

Depending on the parcel, it can offer:

  • another date;
  • Pickup relay or another nearby point;
  • Chronopost agency;
  • identified neighbour;
  • agreed safe place.

Not every parcel is eligible.

Eligibility depends on:

  • sender configuration;
  • purchased service;
  • mobile number or email supplied by the sender;
  • parcel stage;
  • secure-delivery restrictions;
  • current route.

Predict requires sender-provided contact data

Current Chronopost terms explain that Predict depends on the sender providing a mobile number and/or email address.

If the sender supplied:

  • no contact data;
  • wrong contact data;
  • outdated contact data;

the recipient may not receive Predict messages.

11Tracking cannot correct the phone number or email attached to the parcel.

Can you always change the delivery?

No.

The current Chronopost tracking record controls the available options.

A change can be unavailable because:

  • the sender disabled it;
  • the product does not support it;
  • the route is already underway;
  • the parcel is already at a pickup object;
  • Secure Chrono Pass restrictions apply;
  • the destination partner controls delivery.
Predict option not shown
→ option is not currently available
≠ 11Tracking can add it

Predict date-change window

Current consumer terms describe changing the initially proposed date within a maximum of six working days from that initial date.

This is a scoped consumer-service rule.

It is not a universal promise for:

  • every international route;
  • every partner carrier;
  • every special product.

A recipient-selected date can also modify the sender’s original delivery commitment.

A Predict instruction can become non-editable

Chronopost says that an instruction may no longer be changeable once operational execution has progressed.

instruction was available earlier
≠ it remains editable

route already underway
→ delivery options can close

Do not wait until the route is active to rely on a change.

Chrono Pass, Secure Chrono Pass and Pickup Pass

These are three different credentials.

CredentialMain purposeWhat it is not
Chrono PassStandard delivery confirmation workflowTracking number
Secure Chrono PassMandatory secure home-delivery credentialOrdinary Chrono Pass
Pickup PassRelease at a Pickup objectParcel number

None should be entered into a public tracking form.

Standard Chrono Pass

A standard Chrono Pass can be:

  • QR code;
  • delivery code.

The recipient presents it to the driver.

Current guidance also describes fallback evidence for selected routes.

Individual fallback

An individual can sign on the driver’s mobile terminal.

Professional fallback

A professional recipient can use a stamp, signature, date and receiver name on the applicable route sheet.

The standard Chrono Pass workflow is not the same as the mandatory Secure Chrono Pass product.

Secure Chrono Pass

Secure Chrono Pass is a mandatory credential for the secure home-delivery product.

It can be:

  • six-digit code;
  • QR code sent by email.

Current Chronopost guidance says it is sent:

  • the evening before delivery;
  • again on the delivery morning.

Resending the code

The driver can trigger a resend to the phone number already attached to the parcel.

This does not allow:

  • changing the phone number;
  • sending the code to a different person;
  • retrieving it through 11Tracking.

No code available

If the required secure credential cannot be presented, the parcel can be held at:

  • Pickup relay;
  • post office;
  • Chronopost agency.

Secure Chrono Pass limits Predict choices

For a Secure Chrono Pass parcel, current Chronopost guidance allows selected options such as:

  • rescheduling;
  • Pickup relay.

It does not allow the generic Predict options:

  • neighbour;
  • safe place.

The secure-product restriction controls.

Does Secure Chrono Pass prove who received the parcel?

It is strong operational evidence that the delivery workflow accepted the required credential.

It is not independent proof of every disputed fact.

Secure Chrono Pass validated
→ mandatory credential accepted
≠ named purchaser independently authenticated
≠ contents proved
≠ condition proved
≠ continued possession proved

A credential can be:

  • shared;
  • forwarded;
  • accessed through another person’s phone or email.

Do not publish the code or QR image.

Pickup Pass

Pickup Pass is the withdrawal credential for a Pickup object.

It can be:

  • QR code;
  • six-digit withdrawal code.

It is distinct from:

  • parcel number;
  • Chrono Pass;
  • Secure Chrono Pass;
  • delivery-notice reference.

Pickup relay without the Pickup Pass

Current Chronopost guidance says a Pickup relay can use a manual identity-document fallback when the recipient does not have the Pickup Pass or withdrawal code.

The exact documents and authorization can depend on:

  • recipient;
  • delegated collector;
  • pickup object;
  • current instructions.

Pickup locker without the Pickup Pass

A Pickup locker needs the QR code or six-digit withdrawal code to open.

An identity document cannot mechanically open the locker.

11Tracking cannot retrieve or regenerate the credential.

Ready for Pickup

A Ready for Pickup or placed-on-hold event means a pickup object recorded the parcel as available.

redirected to pickup object
≠ available there

Ready for Pickup
→ readiness recorded
≠ notification received
≠ parcel collected

Chronopost tells recipients to wait for the notification confirming availability before travelling.

Use Available for Pickup for the general status boundary.

Pickup object types

A Chronopost parcel can be held at:

  • Pickup relay;
  • Pickup locker;
  • post office;
  • Chronopost agency.

These objects differ in:

  • holding period;
  • opening method;
  • ID or credential requirements;
  • delegated-collection process.

How long does a Chronopost parcel stay at a pickup point?

Current mainland-France generic guidance uses different periods by object:

  • post office: 14 days;
  • Chronopost agency: 14 days;
  • Pickup relay: 7 calendar days, with return beginning after the deadline;
  • Pickup locker: one official page says 5 days.

These are not universal international or special-product rules.

Use the parcel-specific stored-until deadline.

Locker: five days or five working days?

Chronopost’s current official pages are inconsistent.

  • The general holding FAQ says five days.
  • A locker-specific FAQ says five working days maximum.

The safest conclusion is:

Use the deadline shown in the current Chronopost or Pickup notice.

Do not recalculate the date from a generic article.

Delegated pickup

A recipient can authorize another person to collect a parcel in supported workflows.

At a post office or Chronopost agency, the authorized person may need:

  • their identity document;
  • the recipient’s identity document;
  • a power-of-attorney form.

At a Pickup relay or locker, a credential-based workflow can apply instead.

No one collection rule covers every object.

Safe-place delivery

Eligible Predict parcels can be delivered to an agreed safe place.

A safe-place event means the carrier recorded placement in the selected or authorised location.

safe-place delivery recorded
≠ named recipient personally received
≠ location independently safe
≠ parcel remained there

Check the raw delivery wording and any private proof.

Delivery to a neighbour or guardian

Eligible parcels can be delivered to:

  • identified neighbour;
  • building guardian or concierge;
  • another authorized person.

This is a third-party completion branch.

It does not prove the named buyer personally received the parcel.

Secure Chrono Pass parcels cannot use the generic neighbour option through Predict.

Mailbox delivery

Current Chronopost terms describe mailbox delivery for selected Ready-to-Ship Chrono 13 envelope and padded-pouch products.

This is not a universal Chronopost rule.

Chronopost parcel
≠ always eligible for mailbox delivery

For an eligible product, a mailbox-delivery system event can be the contractual completion event.

It still does not independently prove:

  • correct mailbox;
  • continued possession;
  • contents;
  • damage-free condition.

What can `Delivered` mean?

A Chronopost Delivered event can represent:

  • recipient signature;
  • professional stamp;
  • standard Chrono Pass;
  • Secure Chrono Pass;
  • Pickup Pass;
  • pickup-point release;
  • neighbour;
  • guardian;
  • safe place;
  • mailbox;
  • partner-carrier completion.

The timeline should preserve the completion subtype when it is safely available.

Do not flatten every outcome into:

Delivered to the named recipient.

Proof of delivery

Chronopost proof can differ by service.

Possible proof objects include:

  • digitized delivery slip;
  • signature;
  • professional stamp;
  • secure identification method;
  • pickup-point signature;
  • private internal delivery record.

Proof is usually sender- or account-oriented.

11Tracking cannot promise a public downloadable POD.

Pickup-point proof

Current Chronopost guidance says a digitized signature can serve as proof for pickup-point collection.

A Pickup Pass or release transaction can also support the operational record.

That does not automatically prove:

  • named account holder personally attended;
  • contents;
  • condition.

Secure Chrono Pass and signature

The Secure Chrono Pass can replace a traditional signature for the secure product.

That is why the code must remain private.

A validated code is strong carrier evidence but not complete proof of every disputed fact.

When is Chronopost proof available?

Current official pages do not support one universal availability time.

  • A Chrono Pass workflow can make proof available within minutes.
  • General POD guidance can say proof is available from the next day.
  • Older operational guidance referred to at least 24 hours.

Public-safe conclusion:

Proof may appear after delivery processing; immediate availability is not guaranteed.

PhotoConfirm

Chronopost describes PhotoConfirm as an internal application used to support delivery handling and disputes.

This does not prove:

  • every parcel has a photograph;
  • the photograph is public;
  • the recipient can download it;
  • a photo resolves every address or identity dispute.

Do not promise universal photo POD.

Delivered but not received

Start by identifying the completion branch.

Was the parcel recorded as:

  • signed;
  • standard Chrono Pass;
  • Secure Chrono Pass;
  • Pickup Pass;
  • pickup point;
  • safe place;
  • mailbox;
  • neighbour;
  • guardian;
  • partner-carrier delivery?

Initial checks

Chronopost’s current guidance recommends checking:

  • mailbox;
  • porch or doorstep;
  • terrace;
  • neighbour;
  • guardian or concierge;
  • another safe location.

Then preserve evidence

Keep:

  • Chronopost number;
  • linked partner number;
  • raw completion wording;
  • time;
  • location wording;
  • delivery credential type;
  • private POD.

Contact routes

Use:

  • Chronopost for the delivery investigation;
  • partner carrier when it created the completion event;
  • sender or merchant for refund, replacement or buyer protection.
Delivered event
≠ named buyer personally received

carrier investigation
≠ retailer refund

Use Delivered but Not Received for the full recovery workflow.

Damaged parcel

When visible damage is present, current Chronopost recipient guidance says to make reservations on the delivery record in the driver’s presence.

Reservations should be:

  • precise;
  • complete;
  • dated;
  • signed.

Preserve:

  • packaging;
  • item;
  • photographs;
  • tracking;
  • proof;
  • invoice.

Then contact the sender or merchant.

The sender usually controls the carrier contract and claim.

A missing reservation does not automatically eliminate every remedy, but it can make the evidence problem harder.

Tracking not updating

Interpret the gap from the last confirmed stage.

Label or preparation only

Possible causes:

  • sender has not handed over the parcel;
  • collection has not occurred;
  • label was cancelled;
  • wrong number.

Contact the sender.

Accepted but no movement

Possible causes:

  • site processing;
  • line-haul schedule;
  • delayed scan;
  • operational incident.

Contact Chronopost when the applicable current guidance threshold is reached.

In Transit

Possible causes:

  • hub transfer;
  • road or air movement;
  • partner operation;
  • delayed data.

Customs

Possible causes:

  • documentation;
  • valuation;
  • duty or tax;
  • inspection;
  • customs processing.

Delivery depot

Possible causes:

  • sorting;
  • route capacity;
  • Predict instruction;
  • address question.

Partner carrier

Use the linked partner tracker.

No one period of silence proves loss.

Use Tracking Not Updating for the broader decision tree.

Delivery dates and hours

Chronopost publishes broad delivery possibilities from 08:00 to 22:00 and from Monday to Sunday depending on the service purchased by the sender, excluding public holidays.

This does not mean every parcel:

  • can arrive every day;
  • has a 14-hour delivery window;
  • will arrive on the displayed estimate.

The purchased product and current Predict message control.

A delivery time window is planning information.

It is not live GPS or a guarantee.

Shop2Shop

Shop2Shop is Chronopost’s pickup-to-pickup product.

Current official guidance uses a typical 2–4-day service context, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Shop2Shop has a dedicated support route.

Do not apply ordinary home-delivery assumptions such as:

  • driver delivery;
  • home safe place;
  • standard Predict choices;

to a Shop2Shop parcel.

Chronofresh and Chronopost Healthcare

Chronofresh and Chronopost Healthcare are special product branches.

They can have:

  • temperature controls;
  • health-product handling;
  • different delivery commitments;
  • shorter or product-specific holding;
  • restricted redirection.

Use the exact product and current instructions.

Do not apply generic Pickup or ordinary parcel rules automatically.

International Chronopost routes

Chronopost can use other transport operators and destination partners.

An international timeline can contain:

  • Chronopost origin events;
  • airport or road line-haul;
  • customs;
  • Geopost or another delivery partner;
  • local pickup or home delivery.

Preserve:

  • original Chronopost number;
  • verified destination-carrier number;
  • event source.
Chronopost contract identity
≠ every event created by Chronopost

destination partner event
≠ Chronopost and partner are aliases

Use Find the Last-Mile Carrier and Local Tracking Number when the local carrier is unclear.

International delivery estimates

Chronopost publishes estimates by product and destination.

Actual delivery depends on:

  • sender handoff;
  • purchased service;
  • origin;
  • destination;
  • road or air schedule;
  • customs;
  • weekends and holidays;
  • partner carrier.

No one global Chronopost ETA is safe.

Chronopost and customs

Chronopost identifies itself as a registered customs representative for relevant import and export operations.

It can:

  • transmit customs information;
  • coordinate clearance;
  • collect duties, taxes and fees.

The customs authority controls the legal decision.

What import charges can include

Current Chronopost guidance describes possible import costs such as:

  • VAT;
  • customs duty;
  • customs-clearance service fee;
  • applicable small-parcel tax.

The amount depends on:

  • goods;
  • value;
  • origin;
  • destination;
  • Incoterm;
  • current law.

Do not assume a single Chronopost customs fee.

Customs-payment methods

Current official guidance describes different payment methods depending on the shipment and customs flow, including:

  • online card payment;
  • card;
  • cash;
  • cheque.

One current FAQ describes a five-day online payment-link validity for selected Brexit and E-Parcel cases after customs release.

That is not a universal deadline.

Claim roles

The recipient and sender usually have different roles.

Recipient

The recipient should:

  • preserve tracking and delivery evidence;
  • report nonreceipt or damage;
  • protect retailer or marketplace deadlines;
  • contact the sender.

Sender

The sender usually:

  • holds the Chronopost transport contract;
  • opens the carrier claim;
  • provides the parcel value and transport evidence;
  • receives carrier compensation where approved.
recipient report
≠ carrier claim

carrier claim
≠ retailer refund

Claim-notice periods

Current Chronopost official material uses different notice periods.

Examples include:

  • 14 days after delivery for a domestic consumer profile;
  • 3 days after delivery for a domestic professional profile;
  • 21 days after delivery for an international shipment.

These periods depend on:

  • sender profile;
  • route;
  • current terms.

Do not use one universal Chronopost claim deadline.

Start promptly.

One-year limitation is not the initial claim deadline

Chronopost terms also describe a one-year limitation period from delivery or the date delivery should have occurred.

That is a different legal concept.

short claim-notice period
≠ one-year limitation period

A claimant may have to notify Chronopost within days even though the broader action limitation is one year.

Delay compensation

For an ecommerce purchase, the recipient generally uses the seller or merchant for the commercial remedy.

Current professional terms can limit Chronopost delay compensation where Chronopost is responsible and the contractual conditions are met.

A recipient-selected Predict date can also modify the original delivery commitment.

parcel late
≠ automatic Chronopost payment
≠ automatic retailer refund

Liability and optional insurance

Chronopost standard liability differs by:

  • customer profile;
  • product;
  • contract;
  • route.

Optional sender-purchased insurance can provide different declared-value limits.

Current Chronopost guidance distinguishes limits for:

  • individual and digital professional customers;
  • contracted professionals.

Do not assume every parcel has insurance.

Carrier compensation and retailer refund are separate.

Proof and claim evidence is private

A claim can require:

  • transport label;
  • deposit receipt;
  • parcel number;
  • collection confirmation;
  • delivery notice;
  • POD;
  • signature;
  • Chrono Pass or Pickup record;
  • invoice;
  • item value;
  • damage photos;
  • packaging;
  • customs invoice;
  • payment receipt;
  • communications.

Do not submit these to a public tracker.

Chronopost privacy

Chronopost can process shipment and personal data such as:

  • sender and recipient name;
  • postal address;
  • email;
  • phone;
  • parcel number;
  • access code;
  • delivery instruction;
  • customs information;
  • complaint information.

Data can be shared with operational parties such as:

  • last-mile subcontractors;
  • Pickup locations;
  • locker operators;
  • international freight forwarders;
  • customs;
  • technical providers.

The public 11Tracking form needs only the supported tracking reference.

Delivery credentials are sensitive

Never publish:

  • Chrono Pass;
  • Secure Chrono Pass;
  • Pickup Pass;
  • six-digit delivery code;
  • six-digit withdrawal code;
  • locker code;
  • QR code;
  • delivery-notice reference where it functions as access data.

Suppress credentials from:

  • public pages;
  • URLs;
  • metadata;
  • JSON-LD;
  • analytics;
  • logs;
  • screenshots;
  • public AI prompts.

Verify suspicious Chronopost messages

A message can contain a real parcel number, duty amount, pickup location or delivery code and still be fraudulent.

Common lures include:

  • customs payment;
  • small redelivery fee;
  • address correction;
  • missed delivery;
  • Pickup Pass;
  • locker code;
  • Secure Chrono Pass;
  • refund;
  • compensation.

Use this evidence boundary:

real Chronopost number
≠ authentic message

real customs amount
≠ safe payment link

real Pickup location
≠ safe QR page

real six-digit code
≠ safe person to share it with

Safer verification:

  1. Open chronopost.fr independently.
  2. Use the official parcel tracker.
  3. Open myChronopost independently.
  4. Check the current official message-verification page.
  5. Do not share delivery or pickup credentials.
  6. Do not use an unsolicited payment link without independent verification.

Chronopost publishes current authorised sender details, but those lists can change. Use the current official page rather than a permanently copied allowlist.

Use Fake Delivery Message for the broader authentication workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Is Chronopost part of La Poste?

Chronopost is a Geopost company within La Poste Groupe. It remains a distinct parcel brand from Colissimo and DPD France.

Is Chronopost the same as DPD?

No. Chronopost and DPD France are separate group companies and carrier identities.

Is Chronopost the same as Colissimo?

No. They are separate La Poste Groupe parcel services with different products, numbers and terms.

Is Pickup the carrier?

No. Pickup is a shared network of parcel shops and lockers used by Chronopost, Colissimo and DPD France.

What does a Chronopost tracking number look like?

Current official guidance describes a 13-character domestic family with two letters, nine digits and two letters. Incoming foreign parcels can use 15 characters. Chronopost also uses separate collection and delivery-notice references.

Are all valid Chronopost inputs exactly 13 characters?

No. Foreign-origin numbers and other officially accepted operational references can differ. The current homepage example also appears inconsistent with the published domestic structure.

Can I track with a retailer order number?

No. Use the Chronopost parcel number from the shipment details.

What is a Chronopost collection number?

It identifies an on-demand collection request. Current sender guidance describes a 10-digit collection reference. It is not proof that collection occurred.

What is an avis de passage number?

It is a delivery-notice reference connected to an attempted delivery or follow-up workflow. It is not necessarily the parcel number.

Does a Chronopost label mean Chronopost has the parcel?

No. The sender can create the label before handoff. Acceptance or the first network event is stronger custody evidence.

Can one order have several Chronopost numbers?

Yes. Each physical parcel needs its own label and reference.

Is Chronopost tracking live GPS?

No. It shows recorded logistics milestones.

What does Shipment Preparation mean?

The electronic shipment record or label exists. It does not prove physical acceptance.

What does In Transit mean?

The parcel is moving or being processed within the Chronopost or partner network. It does not prove the parcel is in the destination city.

What does Parcel Incident mean?

An abnormal processing event was recorded. It does not automatically mean loss, destruction or an approved claim.

What does Sorted at Delivery Agency mean?

The destination distribution site recorded sorting. The driver route has not necessarily started.

What does Delivery Instruction Received mean?

Chronopost recorded a Predict or operational instruction. It does not prove the change has been executed.

What does Preparing for Delivery mean?

The parcel is being prepared for a presentation. It is not yet proof of Out for Delivery.

What does Delivery Delayed mean?

The delivery plan changed. It does not prove the parcel is lost.

What does Out for Delivery mean?

Chronopost or the current partner recorded route activity. It is not live GPS or a same-day guarantee.

What does Awaiting Instruction mean?

Chronopost needs delivery information or a decision. Use the official tracking and Predict workflow.

Does an attempted delivery guarantee another attempt?

No. The next step depends on product, sender configuration, country and current instruction options.

What is Chronopost Predict?

Predict is Chronopost’s notification and eligible delivery-change service.

Can I always redirect a Chronopost parcel?

No. Options depend on the sender, product, contact data, parcel stage and secure-product restrictions.

How long can Predict postpone delivery?

Current consumer terms describe a maximum six-working-day window from the initially proposed date for the applicable service. This is not universal for every route.

Can I edit a Predict instruction later?

Not always. The option can close after route execution begins.

What is a Chrono Pass?

It is a standard delivery credential, usually a QR code or delivery code. It is not the tracking number.

What is a Secure Chrono Pass?

It is a mandatory six-digit code or QR credential for a secure home-delivery product.

Can a Secure Chrono Pass parcel go to a neighbour?

Current Chronopost guidance says the secure product cannot use neighbour or safe-place options through Predict.

What happens if I do not have the Secure Chrono Pass?

The driver can trigger a resend to the phone already attached to the parcel. If the credential remains unavailable, the parcel can be held at a relay, post office or Chronopost agency.

Does the Secure Chrono Pass prove the named buyer received the parcel?

It proves the secure workflow accepted the credential. It does not independently prove who controlled the code, the parcel contents or continued possession.

What is a Pickup Pass?

It is the QR or six-digit withdrawal credential used for collection at a Pickup object.

Can I collect from a relay without Pickup Pass?

Current guidance allows an identity-document fallback at a relay in selected circumstances.

Can I open a Pickup locker without the code?

No. The locker requires the QR or withdrawal code.

What does Ready for Pickup mean?

The pickup object recorded the parcel as available. It does not mean it was collected.

How long does Chronopost hold a parcel?

Current mainland generic guidance differs by object: 14 days at a post office or Chronopost agency, seven calendar days at a Pickup relay and five days at a locker. Special and international routes can differ.

Is the locker period five days or five working days?

Chronopost’s current pages use both wordings. Follow the stored-until deadline in the parcel notice.

Can another person collect my parcel?

Supported workflows can allow delegated collection, sometimes with power of attorney and identity documents or the relevant pickup credential.

Can Chronopost leave a parcel in a safe place?

Eligible Predict parcels can use an agreed safe place. Secure Chrono Pass parcels cannot use that option.

Can Chronopost deliver to a neighbour?

Eligible Predict parcels can use an identified neighbour. Secure Chrono Pass parcels cannot.

Can Chronopost deliver to a mailbox?

Selected Ready-to-Ship Chrono 13 envelope and padded-pouch products can use mailbox delivery. This is not universal.

What can Chronopost Delivered mean?

It can mean signature, stamp, Chrono Pass, Secure Chrono Pass, Pickup Pass, pickup-point release, safe place, mailbox, neighbour, guardian or partner-carrier completion.

Does Chronopost provide proof of delivery?

Proof can include a digitized delivery slip, signature, stamp or secure identification record. Availability depends on the product and account.

Does every Chronopost delivery have a photo?

No. PhotoConfirm is an internal Chronopost tool, not a universal public photo POD.

Why is proof not available immediately?

Proof may require delivery processing. Current official sources use different timing for different proof workflows.

What should I do if Chronopost says Delivered but I have nothing?

Identify the completion branch, check mailbox and safe locations, preserve the evidence, contact Chronopost or the partner carrier for investigation, and contact the sender for the commercial remedy.

When should I contact Chronopost about tracking not updating?

Current mainland-France guidance uses more than 48 hours without a change, excluding weekends and public holidays. Other routes and products differ.

What is Shop2Shop?

It is Chronopost’s pickup-to-pickup product with separate service and support rules.

Does Chronopost use other carriers internationally?

Yes. Chronopost can select transport operators and destination partners. Preserve the original Chronopost number and any verified partner number.

Does customs release mean delivery is next?

No. Customs release, destination processing, carrier acceptance and Out for Delivery are separate stages.

What can Chronopost import fees include?

VAT, customs duty, clearance-service fees and an applicable small-parcel tax.

Is every Chronopost customs-payment link valid for five days?

No. The five-day guidance applies to selected flows, not every import.

Who files a Chronopost claim?

The sender usually holds the carrier contract and files the claim. The recipient should report the problem and protect retailer or marketplace deadlines.

Is the Chronopost claim deadline 14 days?

Not universally. Current official material uses 14 days for some domestic consumer claims, three days for domestic professionals and 21 days for international shipments.

Do I have one year to report the problem?

The one-year limitation is a different legal concept from the shorter claim-notice periods. Start promptly.

Does Chronopost compensation equal my retailer refund?

No. Carrier compensation under the sender’s transport contract is separate from the merchant’s refund or replacement.

Can 11Tracking change my Chronopost delivery?

No. 11Tracking can display supported public evidence but cannot use Predict, change an address, retrieve a credential, open a locker, pay customs, start an investigation or file a claim.

Use USTracking as a tracking companion

USTracking may help display supported public Chronopost and partner-carrier events in one timeline.

It may help preserve:

  • Chronopost parcel number;
  • verified partner number;
  • event source;
  • pickup-object type;
  • stored-until date where safely public;
  • completion subtype.

It cannot:

  • access a marketplace account;
  • use a Chrono Pass, Secure Chrono Pass or Pickup Pass as tracking input;
  • expose live GPS;
  • change Predict instructions;
  • alter an address;
  • resend a delivery code;
  • open a locker;
  • retrieve private POD;
  • pay customs;
  • contact the driver;
  • start an investigation;
  • file a claim;
  • approve compensation;
  • issue a refund;
  • recover a parcel;
  • guarantee delivery.

Use it to compare the public evidence, then use Chronopost, the partner carrier, sender, merchant, Pickup object or customs authority for action.
