Track a UPS package online

Copy the carrier tracking number from the shipping email, receipt or label, paste it above and select Track UPS package. The tracker can remove ordinary spaces, but it must preserve the letters and digits that identify the shipment.

Available results may include the latest UPS status, scan locations, movement history and a delivery estimate. The estimate can be revised when a route, weather event, access problem or other exception affects the plan. Use the newest detailed event to understand the current situation.

How to use UPS tracking on 11Tracking

  1. Locate the UPS number. Look in the merchant’s shipment confirmation rather than the order confirmation.
  2. Enter the full identifier. Most UPS package numbers begin with 1Z and contain 18 characters, although UPS notes that other formats can occur.
  3. Check the latest event. Expand the timeline to distinguish a label-only event from a physical carrier scan.

A reference number created by the shipper and a UPS package tracking number are not always interchangeable. Use reference lookup only if the production API explicitly supports it.

UPS tracking number formats

The most recognizable UPS tracking number begins with 1Z and is 18 characters long. UPS also documents less common identifiers, so the input should not reject every number that lacks the 1Z prefix. A displayed number may contain spaces; normalization should remove separators without changing the sequence.

Safe UI example: 1Z 000 00E 00 0000 000 0

The example is deliberately non-active and should never be submitted automatically. Do not display a real user’s number in page copy, analytics, an indexable URL or server logs beyond the minimum operational requirement.

Why is UPS tracking not updating?

A UPS package is not scanned continuously. The timeline may remain unchanged while a trailer or aircraft travels between hubs, while the shipment waits for sorting, or while a partner handles the next leg. A quiet period after Label Created is different from a quiet period after UPS has physically received the package.

SituationPossible reasonRecommended next step
Tracking number not recognizedTypo, order number used, recently created label or unsupported referenceRecopy the full UPS number and try again after the first physical scan.
Label Created onlyThe shipper generated a label but UPS has not shown possessionConfirm with the sender that the package was handed to UPS.

ExceptionWeather, address/access issue, damage review, operational delay or another coded causeRead the newest note and use official UPS support if it requests action.
Delivery attemptedSignature, access or recipient availability prevented completionReview the official delivery-change or pickup options shown for the shipment.
Delivered but missingDifferent delivery point, reception or household handoff, safe place, Access Point or misdeliveryCheck the exact location and proof, then report the issue through official UPS tools.

UPS Access Point and postal handoff events

A package marked Delivered to a UPS Access Point is not necessarily delivered to the recipient’s home. The tracking details should identify the pickup location and when the item is ready. Follow the official instructions because identification and holding periods depend on the shipment and location.

For services that transfer the parcel to a post office, the final-mile scan can appear under the postal operator rather than UPS. When 11Tracking receives a partner number, present it as a separate copyable field—never silently replace the original UPS number.

Quick answers

UPS tracking FAQ

How do I track a UPS package?

Enter the UPS tracking number above and select Track UPS package. Review the latest event, location and timestamp, then open the scan timeline for context.

Do all UPS tracking numbers start with 1Z?

No. Most UPS package tracking numbers begin with 1Z and contain 18 characters, but UPS documents other formats in some cases. The production form should validate against the connected API rather than a single pattern.

Why does UPS say “Label Created”?

Shipment data was sent to UPS, but the parcel may still be with the sender or waiting for its first physical UPS scan.

Why has my UPS tracking not updated?

The package may be travelling between facilities, waiting for processing, transferred to a partner or affected by an exception. Check whether the last event proves UPS received the parcel.

What does a UPS exception mean?

An exception is an unexpected event that may affect the route or delivery plan. Read the detailed note because the appropriate response depends on the specific cause.

What happens after a UPS delivery attempt?

The tracking details may show another attempt, a pickup option, an Access Point or a delivery-management action. Use official UPS tools for any change.

What should I do if UPS says delivered but I cannot find the package?

Check the delivery location, proof, reception, neighbors or household members, entrances and any stated Access Point. If it remains missing, report the problem through official UPS support.

Is 11Tracking an official UPS service?

No. 11Tracking is an independent tracking interface and does not represent, operate or receive endorsement from UPS.

UPS and related marks belong to their respective owner and are used only to identify the relevant carrier.
